Game Notes: SLU Welcomes Dartmouth on Friday

The Saints, are one of eight NCAA Division I women’s hockey teams that has yet to lose a game this season. Five of those teams are Ivy League schools, which opened play last weekend.

The Saints have started the season with a six-game unbeaten streak for the first time since 206, when they started the season with six straight wins. The last time St. Lawrence was unbeaten for a stretch of six games was a 7-0-1 stretch in January, 2015. That run featured seven consecutive wins by a combined score of 28-9.

St. Lawrence swept Vermont in a home-and-home series last weekend, winning 3-1 at Appleton Arena on Friday before coming back from a 1-0 deficit to beat the Catamounts 2-1 in Gutterson Fieldhouse on Saturday. Saturday’s game marked the second time the Saints have allowed the first goal and come back to win the game.

Since elevating its program to Division I status, St. Lawrence leads the all-time series with the Big Green 27-19-3.

Head coach Chris Wells is 13-6-1 against Dartmouth since taking the reigns of the program in 2008. The last time the Saints lost to Dartmouth was Nov. 8, 2014, when the Big Green posted a 5-1 victory in a non-league game.

Last year, the Saints were 1-0-1 against the Big Green, winning 4-2 on the road on Oct. 30, and a 2-2 tie on Jan. 16 at Appleton Arena.
