Cornell's Barley-Maloney ’13 Signs With NWHL’s New York Riveters

THACA, N.Y. — On the final day of National Women's Hockey League free agency, forward Erin Barley-Maloney '13 signed with the New York Riveters.

Barley-Maloney transferred to Cornell in 2010 after beginning her college career at Vermont. In 64 games with the Big Red, she notched 17 goals and 25 assists, including three assists in Cornell's 3-1 win over Harvard her senior season. She was also named an All-Ivy Honorable Mention her senior year.

In two years at Vermont, she posted seven goals and 22 assists and was named to the Hockey East All-Rookie Team her freshman year.

Before her collegiate days, Barley-Maloney racked up 104 points at the Taft School and was named NEPSAC girls' hockey player of the year her senior season.

Barley-Maloney joins fellow Cornell alum goaltender Jenny Scrivens '10 on the Riveters for the league's inaugural season. Goaltender Lauren Slebdonick '14 and defenseman Alyssa Gagliardi '14 have also signed NWHL contracts, both with the Boston Pride. Current senior defenseman Cassandra Poudrier was drafted by the Connecticut Whale earlier this year.
