ALBANY, N.Y. - The ECAC Hockey women’s weekly awards have been announced, and Kayla Vespa (St. Lawrence), Sadie Peart (Quinnipiac), and Ena Nystrøm (RPI) have all been honored.
Vespa (Sr. - Hamilton, Ont.) becomes the second straight Saints skater to earn Player of the Week honors after leading the league in scoring this weekend. In the two-game series at Vermont, Vespa recorded four points (2G, 2A), extending her scoring streak to five straight games.
Peart (Fr. - Grand Rapids, Minn.) scored her first career goal in the first period of a 3-2 win over Maine on Friday night. She followed it up shortly afterwards with another goal, this time the overtime game-winner to give the Bobcats their second win of the young season.
Nystrøm (Fr. - Stavanger, Norway) earns MAC Goaltending Goalie of the Week honors after stopping 79 of the 84 shots she faced over the weekend. The rookie net minder finished the weekend with a .940 save percentage, which included a career-high 50 save outing on Saturday.
