ALBANY, N.Y. - The first ECAC Hockey women’s weekly awards have been announced, and Kayla Friesen (Clarkson), Lucy Morgan (St. Lawrence), and Amanda Zeglen (Clarkson) have all been honored.
Friesen (Sr. - Winnipeg, Man.) earns Player of the Week honors after a huge opening weekend, registering five points (4G, 1A) in her first two games donning the Green and Gold. The St. Cloud transfer potted a pair of goals, including the game-winner in the season opener on Friday. She followed it up with another two tallies, and added an assist in a big 5-1 win over Syracuse on Saturday afternoon.
Morgan (Fr. - Mandan, N.D.) takes home the first Rookie of the Week award of the season after a strong performance in net to begin her collegiate career. The rookie net minder stopped 36 shots in her debut against No. 9 Ohio State on Saturday, boasting a 3.04 GAA and .923 save percentage.
Zeglen (Jr. - Calgary, Alb.) turned aside 23 of the 24 shots she faced in her start this weekend, and in turn earns MAC Goaltending Goalie of the Week. The Ohio State transfer posted a 1.01 GAA, and .958 save percentage en route to a 5-1 win over Syracuse.
