Big Green Defeated by Bobcats

A four-goal second period lifted Quinnipiac to a 5-1 victory over Dartmouth on Saturday afternoon.

Freshman CC Bowlby scored the Big Green's lone tally in the first, netting her team-leading seventh goal of the season. Senior Bailee Brekke and sophomore Lotti Odnoga had a point apiece by assisting.

In net, rookie goaltender Hannah Humphreys played the first 36 minutes and made 14 saves before making way for junior Kayla Wormsbecher, who stopped 10.

Both teams went 1-for-1 with the extra player in the first period. The Bobcats got on the board first at 6:05, but that lead lasted less than three minutes before Bowlby's second power-play goal of the season tied things up.

The score remained tied for over 20 minutes until Quinnipiac broke the game wide open, scoring four goals in seven minutes. Humphreys had some huge saves in the second period, but after the third goal, Wormsbecher made her way into the game.

Having allowed one goal in the final seven seconds of the second, Wormsbecher stayed perfect throughout the final period, making 10 saves to keep the visitors from getting another on the board.

The Bobcats had a 29-25 shot advantage. Dartmouth went 1-for-3 on the power play, while Quinnipiac went 1-for-6.

The Big Green will be on the road next weekend for the first time since early December, traveling to New York to face Cornell and Colgate.
