NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Grace Lee scored in each period as the Yale Women's Hockey Team skated to a 5-0 ECAC win over Union at Ingalls Rink.
Senior goalie Tera Hofmann needed just 17 saves to notch her fifth career shutout and second of the year. Her Bulldogs outshot the Dutchwomen 45-17 while converting two of four advantages.
The Bulldogs, 2-1 in conference play, got on the board with 15 seconds left in the opening frame when Lee re-directed Greta Skarzynski's shot from the point. Yale's first-year center got her second goal of the year by being in the low slot on the right side with her stick on the ice when the blueliner fired low.
The Boulder, Colo., native notched her team's second of the night at 5:55 of the second when she gathered the rebound from another Skarzysnki shot from the point. Lee took the puck off a defender's leg, wheeled around and wristed a low shot between the legs of goalie Bella McKee.
The Blue put the game away with a pair of power-play tallies in the third. Rookie forward Elle Hartje, looking for her team-high fifth of the season, knocked in a rebound off a shot from Claire Dalton at 3:59, and then sophomore blueliner Emma Seitz fired home a shot from the left point at 7:59.
Lee, who skated for Team Korea at the 2018 Winter Olympics, potted her third of the night and fourth of the year with 5:51 left in the contest. She is the second (Elle Hartje vs. LIU) Yale rookie to record a hat trick this season.
"I was getting into open space, and my teammates were really moving the puck well," said Lee. "We were able to move the puck pretty well tonight and played a great team game."
She and the Bulldogs host RPI Saturday at 3 p.m. at Ingalls Rink in a game airing live on ESPN+.
