Clarkson Suffers Loss at 10th-Ranked UMD

After averaging over four goals a game through their first three contests Clarkson University suffered a shutout on the road, losing 2-0 at 10th-ranked Minnesota Duluth on Saturday afternoon.

Ranked third in the national polls entering the weekend, the Golden Knights are off this coming weekend before traveling to Robert Morris for a two-game set on October 18-19.

Clarkson, which defeated UMD 4-2 on Friday night at Amsoil Arena, outshot the home team 29-23 in the second game of their weekend series, but the Bulldogs made the most of their chances to gain the win.

After a scoreless opening 20 minutes, UMD got on the scoreboard at 11:30 of the middle frame with a goal by Gabbie Hughes.

The Bulldogs added their second goal at 11:28 of the final period with Sydney Brodt connecting on the power play.

Maddie Rooney made 29 saves to hand the Green and Gold their first regular-season blanking since a 2-0 loss at Princeton on February 9, 2018.

Sophomore Marie-Pier Coulombe posted 21 saves for Clarkson.

The Knights were 0-of-1 with the man-advantage, while UMD went 1-of-2.
