ALBANY, N.Y. - There are just two undefeated teams remaining in ECAC Hockey league play after this last weekend of play, and both of those teams have been honored with ECAC Hockey weekly award winners. St. Lawrence’s Kalie Grant (Player of the Week), and Kristen Guerriero (Rookie of the Week) were each given accolades after leading the Saints to another 2-0 weekend, while Princeton’s Rachel McQuigge receives Goalie of the Week honors.
Grant registered four points on the weekend (1G, 3A), which tied her for the league lead. The junior scored a goal and added an assist in Friday’s 3-1 win over Yale, before dishing out two more assists to help the Saints to a 4-1 victory over Brown on Saturday. She ended the weekend with a +3 on-ice rating while also making an impact in the faceoff circle, winning 55.9% of her draws.
Guerriero also played a huge role in the Saints weekend sweep, anchoring a defensive unit that allowed just two goals all weekend. The Montreal, Quebec native blocked five shots over the two game span, which ranked second among all rookies. She also helped out on the offensive end, scoring the eventual game-winning goal in Saturday’s win over Brown.
McQuigge helped Princeton stay at the top of the ECAC Hockey standings this weekend, going 1-0-1 in a tough weekend set against Colgate and No. 6 Cornell. The sophomore earned her first career shutout in Friday’s 6-0 win over Colgate, making 33 saves to earn the win. She followed it up with a 31-save performance on Saturday, allowing just two goals against a tough Cornell team to help the Tigers secure the tie.
