ALBANY, N.Y. - After a 2-0 weekend and a pair of wins over nationally-ranked opponents, Brown headlines this week’s women’s awards with two selections. Princeton’s Cassie Reale also received a weekly accolade, being named Rookie of the Week after helping the Tigers remain undefeated in league play.
Sena Hanson (ECAC Hockey Women’s Player of the Week) led the offensive charge for the Bears this weekend, scoring four goals and adding an assist to lead the team with five points. Two of her four goals were game-winners, as the junior was able to find the back of the net in clutch situations against both No. 9/10 Colgate on Friday, and No. 6 Cornell on Saturday. The New Brighton, Minn. native ended the weekend with a +4 on-ice rating, and now has four multipoint games this season, which leads the team.
As good as the offense looked for Brown, goaltender Calla Isaac (MAC Goaltending Women’s Goalie of the Week) was even better, making 38 saves in each game over the weekend. The junior was tested in the third period of both games, making 16 saves against Colgate late and following it up with 11 third period saves against Cornell on Saturday. She finished the weekend with a .927 save percentage, allowing just three goals in each game.
Reale picked up her second win in as many career games on Friday night, making 18 saves to help the Tigers defeat Dartmouth 4-1. The Toronto, Ont. native gave up just one goal in the game, finishing with a save percentage of .947 and a goals-against average of 1.00. The freshman boasts a save percentage of .921 on the season, and is 2-0 as a starter and in league play.
