ALBANY, N.Y. - The ECAC Hockey women’s weekly awards have been released for the first time in the 2018-19 season, with players from Clarkson and Quinnipiac being honored.
Quinnipiac’s Lexie Adzija takes home Rookie of the Week honors after recording two points in her first collegiate game on Friday night. She was one of just seven freshman in the nation to record multi-point game in the first weekend of play. She was also able to put pressure on the Ohio State goaltender, registering nine shots on goal in the two-game span.
Graduate transfer Kassidy Sauve led Clarkson to a 2-0 start, stopping 61 shots over the weekend. The Whitby, Ontario native was tested often, facing nearly double the amount of shots as her Bemidji State counterpart, while still boasting a .938 save percentage, and allowing just four total goals.
Kelly Mariani was the epitome of efficiency this weekend for the Golden Knights, scoring two goals on the only two shots she took over the weekend. She also added an assist in Friday’s season opener, putting her point total at three for the week. Her productivity went beyond scoring as well, as she posted a +4 on-ice rating, which tied for a team and league-high this week.
