ALBANY, N.Y. - The gap for the top spot in the ECAC Hockey women’s standings has closed to just two points, and with just four league weekends remaining, the playoff race is in a full sprint.
No. 4 Princeton continues the hold the top spot in the league standings, but the Tigers face a tough test this weekend when they welcome St. Lawrence and No. 5 Clarkson to Hobey Baker Rink. The Tigers are riding a 19-game undefeated streak into this weekend, but have yet to square off with the defending national champs so far in 2018-19. Quinnipiac will also host the north country foes, as they play in their first league action since January 12.
No. 6 Cornell and No. 10 Colgate will also be at home this weekend, as they welcome in RPI and Union for a weekend set. The Engineers are in the midst of their best season since 2009-10, when they fell in the ECAC Hockey semifinals to the Big Red.
The last set of league games will feature four teams currently in the playoff hunt, as Brown and Yale travel to Harvard and Dartmouth. With spots in the top eight still up for grabs, all four will look to begin their final push toward the ECAC Hockey Championship with key points this weekend.
ECAC Hockey continues to lead in the national polls with four teams ranked in the top-10. Princeton leads the way at No. 4, with Clarkson and Cornell following right behind at No. 5 and 6. Colgate files in at No. 10 in the country.
