ECAC Hockey and ESPN Reach Multi-Year Deal to Make ESPN+ Home for Men’s and Women’s Games

More than 350 ECAC Hockey games will now be streamed live on ESPN+

ALBANY, N.Y. -- ECAC Hockey today announced a multi-year deal with ESPN to showcase nearly 180 additional men’s and women’s games on ESPN+, a premium direct-to-consumer video service, beginning in the 2018-19 season. The agreement features all regular and post-season home games for ECAC Hockey members Clarkson, Colgate, Quinnipiac, St. Lawrence, and Union. Fans who subscribe to ESPN+ will also have the opportunity to watch home games of six other ECAC Hockey members, per ESPN’s previously announced deal with the Ivy League, resulting in more than 350 games each season.

RPI men’s and women’s home hockey games will continue to be available to fans on YouTube via RPI TV.

“We are thrilled to announce this new opportunity with ESPN+,” said ECAC Hockey Commissioner Steve Hagwell. “This agreement increases our exposure and brand recognition, while providing our fans a single streaming service via which they can follow their favorite teams throughout the season.”

This collaboration will allow ECAC Hockey fans to watch hundreds of regular-season contests, as well as every tournament game on the same service, via the ESPN App, essentially providing a “one-stop shop” for all league contests. In April of 2018, the Ivy League, which includes ECAC Hockey members Brown, Cornell, Dartmouth, Harvard, Princeton, and Yale, announced a 10-year partnership with ESPN which includes the streaming of ice hockey games.

Along with the ECAC Hockey content, fans will also gain access to a variety of live events through ESPN+, including MLB, NHL, and MLS games, additional college sports, professional tennis, golf, boxing, rugby, and more. The $4.99 monthly cost will also give subscribers access to additional ESPN programming, including highlights, fantasy shows, the entire 30 for 30 library, and more.

“For 25 years, ESPN has been the home of the Frozen Four, including carrying every game of the NCAA Division I Men’s Championship for more than a decade,” said Burke Magnus, ESPN executive vice president of programming and scheduling. “This new agreement with the ECAC, along with other existing deals, makes ESPN+ home to the most extensive regular season college hockey coverage in the company’s history. We are thrilled to further serve the sport.”
