ALBANY, N.Y. - With the month of January in the books for the ECAC Hockey women, three players have emerged as honorees for the first month of 2019.
Clarkson’s Loren Gabel earns her second Player of the Month selection this season, having previously received the award in October. The senior led the nation in scoring this month, notching 11 goals and adding six assists to lead here team to a 6-1-1 record, including six straight wins to wrap up the month. She broke the career scoring record at Clarkson during the month (193 points), and also eclipsed the 100-goal mark during the last weekend of January.
Princeton’s Sarah Fillier earns her second consecutive Rookie of the Month honors, continuing her breakout rookie campaign with a 14 point (6G, 8A) month. The forward led the nation with 2.80 points-per-game in January, as it took her just five games to record her 14 points. She registered a +9 on-ice rating, winning 71 face-offs and helping the Tigers to a 4-0-1 mark, extending their undefeated streak to 19 straight games.
Grace Harrison (St. Lawrence) has been selected for Goalie of the Month after leading the nation in both save percentage (.970), and goals-against average (0.76). The senior went 3-0-1 in games that she started, with the only tie coming in a 0-0 game against Harvard in which she made 29 saves. The Auckland, New Zealand native allowed just three goals during the entire month, stopping 98 of the 101 shots that came her way.
