Yale drops game to No. 5 Princeton

New Haven, Conn. -- Despite taking an early 1-0 lead on No. 5 Princeton (17-3-5, 14-1-3), the Bulldogs were defeated by the Tigers 4-2 in the White Out for Mandi game on Saturday at Ingalls. First-year and sophomore forwards Rebecca Vanstone and Greta Skarzynski found the net for Yale.

The Bulldogs started the scoring just :55 into the first frame, when Vanstone notched the 12th goal of her rookie campaign on an uncontested fastbreak opportunity. Vanstone was perfectly set up by her fellow first-year forward Claire Dalton.

Dalton, with her linemates in tow, pushed the puck up the ice through traffic, besting the Princeton defense and creating a high percentage look for Vanstone, who poked it home. The first-period goal was Vanstone's team-leading 19th point of the season.

After three consecutive Princeton goals, the Bulldogs cut the lead to 3-2 thanks to sophomore forward Skarzynski. The Lake Forest, Illinois native converted her 11th point this season off the setup from sophomore defenseman Lauren Moriyama and senior captain Emma Vlasic.

Vlasic's assist on the Skarzynski goal was her 17th point this season; she's scored a point in her last three games.

The Yale women's hockey team is on the road next weekend against Colgate and Cornell.
