Brown defeated by Harvard

BOSTON, Mass. - The Brown women's hockey team was defeated by Harvard, 4-0, on Saturday at the Bright-Landry Hockey Center. Freshman Hayley Kliczko (Niles, Ill.) highlighted the day for the Bears with a career best 46 saves in net.

"Hayley stood on her head throughout the entire game," said head coach Carisa Wahlig. "We had a lot more chances in the third period which was nice to see."

After scoring one goal in the first period, a power-play tally by Kaitlin Tse (9:14), Harvard (7-11-3, 6-8-2 ECAC) benefited from a three-goal second period to take control. Dominique Petrie added the Crimson's second special team's score at 9:05 to get things started while Lexie Lang (13:05) and Bradley Fusco (15:07) upped Harvard's advantage to four to conclude the scoring in the second.

Brown (5-16-2, 2-12-2 ECAC) came back to outshoot the Crimson in a scoreless third, 12-9. Freshman Shay Maloney (McHenry, Ill.) paced the offense overall with five shots while freshman Lizzy Gross(Scarborough, Maine) and junior Maybelline Beiring (Calumet, Mich.) each logged four.

Kliczko's career high 46 saves included 26 in the first period and nine in the scoreless third. It is her third 40+ save performance of the season. Beth Larcom made 22 stops in the opposing net.  

The Bears were 0-for-4 on the afternoon on the power-play while the Crimson were 2-for-5.
 
Brown will next return to Meehan Auditorium to close out the season series against No. 4 Princeton on Friday, Feb. 8 and Quinnipiac on Saturday, Feb. 9. Friday's game against the Tigers will begin at 6:00 p.m. while Saturday's contest will start at 3:00 p.m.
