McClanahan nets both goals in loss to St. Lawrence

HANOVER, N.H. – Freshman Sara McClanahan scored both of Dartmouth's goals to have her first multi-point performance in the 3-2 loss to St. Lawrence at Appleton Arena on Friday evening.

The Wayzata, Minnesota, native scored her fourth and fifth goals of the season to take over as team leader in points and classmate Givanna Foglia (playing in her first game since Dec. 4) had her first collegiate point, while senior Tess Bracken and junior Bailee Brekke also ended the game with a helper each. Senior Christine Honor had a great game, making 32 saves (.914 save percentage).

McClanahan was named the second star at the end of the game for being the only player on either team to score more than one goal.

The Big Green (3-16-1, 2-11-0) and the Saints (12-11-2, 7-5-1) had a good back-and-forth game going in the opening frame, preventing any chances until the first shot was taken almost five minutes in. St. Lawrence opened scoring at 18:13 of the first and made it 2-0 at 7:34 of the second period. Dartmouth got within one at 15:06 when McClanahan netted Foglia's rebound, sending the puck to the left of netminder Grace Harrison.

McClanahan was back at 5:30 of the third, getting past Harrison for a second time (this time on the power play) to make it a tied game. The teams remained tied for five minutes before the Saints scored again to take the lead again. There were a few close calls, but Honor came through with some huge saves. The Green never stopped battling but ran out of time before they could get another on the board.

The Big Green will be back on Saturday for a 3 p.m. contest against No. 5 Clarkson at Cheel Arena.
