SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – The Princeton women's hockey team has matched the program record for longest unbeaten streak this afternoon after a 4-0 win at Union. The Tigers are unbeaten in 12 games going 9-0-3 since October 26 - the longest streak in the nation.
The streak matches the 12 that the 2015-16 NCAA Tournament team had, a team that also has the record for wins in a season with 22.
Senior goaltender Stephanie Neatby made her season debut, stopping all 15 shots she faced.
Junior defender Claire Thompson scored her sixth goal of the season to put the Tigers on the board early, at 4:40 of the first. Thompson had a snipe off a drop pass from freshman Sarah Fillier with Maggie Connors earning the secondary.
Princeton converted on its first power-play opportunity at 13:12 with junior Carly Bulllock pulling the trigger on her 12th goal of the season. Senior Karlie Lund and Connors, once again, assisted.
After a scoreless second period, Sarah Fillier took advantage of a turnover with her second goal to push the Tigers to 3-0.
Less than three minutes later sophomore Annie MacDonald extended the Tigers' lead to four when she got a pass from Lund in the slot and wristed in her fourth of the year.
Princeton was 1 for 5 on the power play and 5 for 5 on the penalty kill.
The Tigers take a break for the holiday and return hosting Merrimack in a two-game set on Dec. 30 & 31.
