Brown Falls to Boston University in Weekday Game

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - After junior Sena Hanson (New Brighton, Minn.) scored the game-tying goal midway through in the third period, Boston University went on to close the frame with three goals to take a 5-2 win over the Brown women's hockey team on Tuesday night at Meehan Auditorium.

Hanson concluded the night with two goals, her third game with two goals and her team-leading fifth multipoint game.

"It was another tough loss," said head coach Carisa Wahlig. "We are looking ahead to Providence to close out first semester."

Brown (5-6-1) gained a 1-0 lead with Hanson's first tally at 13:13 of the opening period when she registered her team-leading eighth goal of the season by beating Corinne Schroeder top shelf from the slot. Freshman Tina Paolillo (East Haven, Conn.) recorded her first collegiate assist on the play.

The Terriers (4-4-4) would tie up the game shortly before the end of the first at 18:07 with a tally from Connor Galway. BU ended the stanza with a strong 20-5 lead in shots, with junior Calla Isaac (Sherwood Park, Alberta) stopping an impressive 19.

BU broke the tie game in the second period at 15:32 when Sammy Davis found the back of the net for a 2-1 edge.

Hanson tied it for the Bears at two at 8:04 of the third stanza from the left faceoff circle with senior Abby Niewchas (Cochrane, Alberta) contributing the assist.

The Terriers were quick to regain their lead and did so at 11:12 with a goal by Reagan Rust. Nara Elia later pushed BU's advantage to two (4-2) at 17:25 and Mackenna Parker added an empty net score at 18:35 to secure the game.

Brown was 3-for-3 on the penalty kill on the night while BU was 1-for-1. Isaac finished the contest with 37 saves, her fifth 30+ save performance, while Schroeder ended the game with 15 stops for BU.

The Bears will next host the 24th installment of the Mayor's Cup on Tuesday, Dec. 4 at Meehan Auditorium versus No. 8/8 Providence starting at 6:00 p.m.
