Yale falls short of Nutmeg Classic title game with a loss to Providence

New Haven, Conn. -- The Bulldogs were edged out of the Nutmeg Classic title game after a 2-1 loss to No. 9 Providence at Ingalls on Friday.

First-year forward Charlotte Welch converted the lone goal for Yale to tie the game 1-1 off a quick setup from Jordan Chancellor and Greta Skarzynski 12 minutes into the third period. Skarzynski leads the team with five assists this season.

The Eli's junior goaltender, Tera Hofmann, made 31 saves in net and owns a .944 save percentage after six games in net this season.

The Yale women's hockey team is back in action tomorrow in the consolation game against the University of Connecticut. The Huskies and the Bulldogs will drop the puck at 3 p.m. at Ingalls.
