The Yale women's hockey team stood tough in a 3-1 loss against ninth-ranked St. Lawrence at Ingalls on Saturday.
First-year forward Rebecca Vanstone scored her third goal of the season to tie the game 1-1 with 17 seconds left in the first period. Emma Vlasic and Claire Dalton set up Vanstone, who buried the shot spinning away from the net. Dalton leads the team in helpers with four assists on the year.
Down 2-1, with six skaters on, the Bulldogs threatened to knot the score late in the third, but St. Lawrence's Justine Reyes put the game out of reach with a longshot empty net goal.
Junior netminder Tera Hofmann made 34 saves on 37 shots. She has 132 saves over four games this season.
The Bulldogs lock up with third-ranked Clarkson tomorrow afternoon at Ingalls rink. Puck drop is scheduled for 3 p.m.
