The Yale women's hockey team secured their first win 6-1 against Union at Messa Rink on Friday. Senior captain Emma Vlasic recorded three points in the victory.
Vlasic started the scoring midway through the first period, assisted by first-year forwards Claire Dalton and Rebecca Vanstone for their second assists on the season. Dalton recorded two assists on the night.
The Bulldogs put the game out of reach for the Dutchmen on a Jordan Chancellor goal midway through the second. She was set up by Greta Skarzynski and Charlotte Welch.
First-year defensemen Tabea Bothoff kicked off a streak of four unanswered Yale goals early in the third period with her first collegiate tally. Julia Yetman added on a power play goal just three minutes later to put the Elis up 4-1. Junior defenseman Saroya Tinker earned her first assist of the season on Yetman's goal.
Following Vlasic's second goal of the night, first-year forward Rebecca Vanstone finished off the scoring with her second goal of the season off a look from Welch and Kirsten Nergaard late in the third.
First-year forward Maya Kerfoot recorded her first collegiate assist on Vlasic's second goal.
The Bulldogs move on to RPI tomorrow. Puck drop is slated for 3 p.m. at the Houston Field House.
