ALBANY, N.Y. -- ECAC Hockey today announced the finalists for the 2012 Women’s Goaltender of the Year Award. Erica Howe, Clarkson, Aubree Moore of Brown and Princeton’s Rachel Weber have each been nominated for the honor by the League’s coaches.

Sophomore netminder Erica Howe, has been the key reason for Clarkson's success this year, playing all but 47 minutes in the Knights' goal. She has started all 22 conference games and boasts a 15-5-2 ECAC Hockey mark. She is tied for second in the nation in shutouts with seven (also saw the bulk of playing time in another whitewash, but shared shutout with teammate). She posted a .941 save percentage, 1.41 goals-against average and a .727 win percentage and five shutouts in ECAC Hockey play. She ranks among the top goaltenders overall in the nation in save percentage (.928), goals-against average (1.72) and winning percentage (.691). Howe was selected ECAC Hockey Goaltender of the Month in both October and November and named as ECAC Goaltender of the Week three times and listed on league's weekly Honor Roll nine times. She only had three games in league play where she allowed more than two goals (most was three).

Brown sophomore, Aubree Moore was one of the main factors that sent Brown back to the ECAC hockey playoffs for the first time since 2006. The second-year goalie was sensational for the Bears, posting the third best save percentage (.938) in the country, and best among her ECAC Hockey counterparts in overall contests. She posted marks of 2.15 goals-against average and .935 save percentage, with 386 saves in 13 conference games this season. Moore was responsible for eight of Brown's 14 league points, while splitting time in net with junior Katie Jamieson.

The third member of the Goaltender of the Year finalist group is Princeton junior Rachel Weber. The Hudson, Wisconsin native recorded 1298:34 minutes in 22 league games this season only allowing 38 goals. Her 1.76 goals-against average ranked sixth among her counterparts in league action. Weber registered 30-plus saves in ten league games this season. She also recorded four shutouts and had the league’s fourth-best save percentage (.937). Weber was a three-time ECAC Hockey Goaltender of the Week as well during the season.
