Union Downed by North Dakota in Final Non-Conference Game

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. - Sophomore goaltender Kate Gallagher stopped 20 shots but North Dakota defeated Union College 5-0 on Saturday afternoon.

With the loss, Union is now 4-15-1 overall while North Dakota moves to 4-11-3. Union also played its final non-conference game on the season.

North Dakota's Mary Loken scored the first and go-ahead goal 15 minutes into the second period by knocking the puck inside the crease.

Stephanie Roy would extend North Dakota's lead to two with less than three minutes left in the second period just outside the goal crease.

North Dakota would add two more goals in the span of 11 seconds by Loken and Sara Dagenais, respectively.

Freshman goaltender Alana Marcinko entered the game with less than 17 minutes left in the game. She made seven saves and allowed one power play goal by Margot Miller.

With 14 games left on the season, Union will finish the season against ECAC Hockey opponents, starting with No. 3 Clarkson on Friday, Jan. 7. Faceoff is at 7 p.m.
