BOSTON, MA - Freshman forward Emma Rambo scored her first career goal in the Union women's hockey season-opening game, a 4-1 loss, at Northeastern on Saturday. Junior forward Marissa Gentile and freshman forward Rhianna Kurio earned assists on the play.
Rambo's goal came 2:15 into the third period and made the score 3-1. The assist was Kurio's first career point, while Gentile packed up her 18th career point.
Northeastern's Alyssa Wohlfeiler opened the score 15:16 into the first period on a play setup by Lindsay Berman and Kasey Cedorchuk.
The Terriers took control in the second, grabbing a three-goal lead with tallies from Berman and Rachel Llanes. Wohlfeiler assisted on the second goal
Berman finished the game with two goals and an assist after tapping in an empty net goal with 54 ticks remaining.
Freshman goaltender Alana Marcinko made her first career collegiate start, turning away 35 saves. She posted 12 in the first, 13 in the second and 10 in the third.
Union remains on the road with a pair of games at Vermont on Friday, Oct. 9 and Saturday, Oct. 10. Friday's outing begins at 7 p.m., while Saturday's starts at 4 p.m.
