Backman Scores Contract with Manchester

MANCHESTER, NH – The Manchester Monarchs, the primary affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings, have signed right wing Sean Backman, a former Yale standout, to an American Hockey League contract, Monarchs Director of Hockey Operations Hubie McDonough announced.

Backman recorded 18 goals and 21 assists for 39 points in 133 games with the AHL’s Bridgeport Sound Tigers during the last two seasons (2011-13).  Prior to joining the Sound Tigers, the 5-foot-8, 165-pound native of White Plains, New York split his first professional season, 2010-11, between the AHL’s Texas Stars and the ECHL’s Idaho Steelheads.  He collected 23 points (7-16=23) in 67 games with the Stars and four points (2-2=4) in five games with the Steelheads.  

Backman spent four years at Yale (2006-10) where he registered 77 goals and 49 assists for 126 points in 122 games.
