Cardiff Devils have confirmed the return of captain Jake Morissette, defenceman Josh Batch and goaltender Thomas Murdy for 2017/18.
Morissette originally joined the Devils from German side SC Riessersee in 2013, going on to feature in 181 Elite League games, registering 60 goals and 153 points. The 34-year-old has also scored 16 goals and 42 points in 45 Challenge Cup games.
“Jake is so consistent and probably would have had another 20+ goal season this past year if he didn’t get injured.” Devils head coach Andrew Lord said.
“He plays hard every night and the guys and me know exactly what he is going to bring night in and night out.”
26-year-old Batch returns for his seventh season with the Devils, having established himself as one of the top British blue liners in the Elite League after originally joining the Welsh side in 2011.
In 304 Elite League games to date for the Devils, Batch has 23 goals and 72 points.
“Josh is a great talent, such size and strength and he is seriously one of toughest players in the league.” Lord said.
“He hits hard and is so good defensively that he has earned a major role on this team over the last three years. He plays forward and defence, which is a huge asset for us to be able to use him wherever we need him.”
Goaltender Murdy returns for a second season with the club, after posting a .901 save percentage in 14 games for the Devils last season with a 2.78 goals-against average, helping Cardiff secure some key victories when number one goaltender Ben Bowns was sidelined through injury; including victories in five straight starts.
