TORONTO -- Cliff Fletcher, General Manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs, announced Tuesday that the team has named former Rensselaer forward Graeme Townshend as skating coach.

Townshend, 42, spent the past four seasons with the San Jose Sharks as the team's skating coach under the guidance of Ron Wilson and his staff. Townshend played 45 career NHL games (1989-94) for Boston, the New York Islanders and Ottawa collecting three goals and seven assists. Both Hirsch and Townshend will work with players on both the Maple Leafs and Toronto Marlies, as well as with the organizations drafted prospects in North America.
