Heading into the final week of October, we’ve started to get a sense of what teams and players are going to produce this season. Soon, the “still too early” claims will begin to die down and real excitement – or real panic – will begin. So, with more than 10 percent of the campaign in the books, it’s time to start breaking down each team’s strengths and weaknesses and the storylines surrounding them.
Columbus Blue Jackets General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen announced today that restricted free agent left wing Eric Robinson has accepted the club's qualifying offer for the 2019-20 National Hockey League/American Hockey League season.
Eric Robinson didn’t have much time to dwell on the disappointment of seeing his career with the Princeton University men’s hockey team end with a 4-2 loss to Ohio State in the NCAA tournament. Two days after the defeat on March 24 in the first round of the national tourney, star forward Robinson followed the Buckeyes to Ohio as he signed a contract with the Columbus Blue Jackets of the NHL and joined the pro team on Monday.
The Princeton men's hockey program is pleased to announce it will hold Champions Weekend on Feb. 17 to honor the championship teams of 1998 and 2008. That evening the Tigers will host Union in the regular-season home finale at 7 p.m.
Backup goalies always prepare like they’re going to play, which turned out to be a good thing for Mike Condon when he went from the bench to the blue paint as Craig Anderson’s replacement after two periods on Monday night.
HUNTERSVILLE, NC (October 24, 2017) - The Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) today announced goaltender Sean Bonar of the Pensacola Ice Flyers is the Warrior Player of the Week for October 20-22.
He was the last player off the ice Friday morning. And while he didn't know the plan, Taylor Fedun had a pretty good guess that he would be the odd man out when the Buffalo Sabres hosted the Vancouver Canucks a few hours later in KeyBank Center.
NEW YORK -- George Parros wants longer suspensions for nonhockey infractions and will focus more on slashing as head of the NHL Department of Player Safety. Otherwise, he wants to operate much the same way his predecessors Stephane Quintal and Brendan Shanahan did.
“An exceptional skater with great movement, hungry to take the next step” – that’s the assessment of the Head Coach of the Smith Recycling MK Lightning, Pete Russell, on the team’s most recent signing – US born defenceman Quin Pompi.
On Thursday, the Thunderbirds named Kyle Hagel an assistant coach on new head coach Matt O’Dette’s staff. The 32-year-old Hagel spent last season playing with the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League.
Winnipeg, MB – The Manitoba Moose Hockey Club announced today the team has re-signed forwards Patrice Cormier and Darren Kramer, along with defenceman Peter Stoykewych to one-year contracts. The club also signed forwards Brody Sutter and Francis Beauvillier, defenceman Jake Kulevich and goaltender Colton Phinney to one-year deals.
OTTAWA - Ottawa Senators (@Senators) general manager Pierre Dorion announced today that the club has signed goaltender Mike Condon to a three-year contract extension. The contract will carry an average annual value of $2.4 million ($1.7 M in year one, $2.5M in year two, $3M in year three).
This past April, Kevin Westgarth stood in the visitor’s locker room at the Prudential Center grinning ear-to-ear. The former Los Angeles King had just wrapped up a charity ice hockey game with several former NHL players. In the game he did something he had only done seven times during his NHL career – he scored a goal.
It's been hit or miss for hockey teams in Colorado this year. The highs of an NCAA championship season from the University of Denver Pioneers have shared the scene with the lows of the Colorado Avalanche posting the worst record in the NHL.
