HUNTERSVILLE, NC (October 24, 2017) - The Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) today announced goaltender Sean Bonar of the Pensacola Ice Flyers is the Warrior Player of the Week for October 20-22.
In his only game of the 2017-2018 opening weekend, Bonar went on the road and stopped all 36 shots in a 4-0 shutout of the defending President’s Cup Champion Macon Mayhem.
Acquired by Pensacola in an off-season trade with Fayetteville, the Delta, BC native seeks to become the first player in SPHL history to capture back-to-back Most Valuable Player awards. Last year, Bonar set new league records for wins (32) and minutes played (2956:17). Before turning pro, Bonar played his collegiate hockey at Princeton University where he was named to the ECAC All-Academic Team each of his four seasons, majoring in Mechanical Engineering.
