Lewis to Play in KHL

HC Poprad LEV (Slovakia) of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) announced Wednesday the signing of former Dartmouth standout Grant Lewis for the 2011-12 season.

Lewis heads to Slovakia having spent the 2010-11 campaign with the Milwaukee Admirals of the American Hockey League (AHL). The Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania native appeared in 47 games, scoring eight goals and assisting on 15 goals. Lewis contributed four assists in 11 postseason contests.

Lewis split the 2009-10 season between the AHL’s Chicago Wolves and Hershey Bears, and appeared in one postseason contest during the Bears’ run to the 2010 Calder Cup. Lewis also played on the Wolves’ 2008 Calder Cup-winning team.

Lewis appeared in one National Hockey League (NHL) game with the Atlanta Thrashers on March 3, 2009 versus Florida.

In four seasons with the Big Green, Lewis played in 120 collegiate contests. He racked up 13 goals and 64 assists for 77 points. His top offensive campaign came during his freshman season when he tallied 25 points, including three goals, in 34 games.
