For Walleye rookie defenseman Patrick McCarron, the adjustment from college hockey to playing the sport full-time for a living has been both eye-opening and enjoyable.
McCarron, a 23-year-old, said the grind of the ECHL schedule with travel creates a heavy workload. But McCarron, who graduated from Cornell University last spring, said playing in Toledo has proved to be the perfect spot to start his pro career.
“It's gone pretty well,” McCarron said. “The travel is an adjustment. In college, you play just two games a week. As the season has gone on, I've gotten used to the amount of games.”
