WORCESTER — Hundreds of goaltenders have won their first games, and at least dozens have recorded shutouts at the same time.
Railers goalie Mitch Gillam, though, is in all likelihood the only one to have done this in his debut: score a goal.
It happened on Nov. 26, 2013, when Gillam was making his first-ever appearance for Cornell. The freshman, backing up senior Andy Iles, had made 24 saves to help the Big Red cling to a 3-2 lead over Niagara, but the opposition had pulled its goalie in the final minute and was pressing.
