ALBANY, N.Y. -- ECAC Hockey recently announced that Keir Ross of Cornell has been named the 2011-12 Men’s Student-Athlete of the Year selected for the honor by the league’s Awards Committee. The sixth recipient of the award, which recognizes academic achievement, as well as accomplishments on and off of the ice of ECAC Hockey student-athletes, Ross was one of 12 fellow nominees for the honor.
ALBANY, N.Y. - Two hundred eight student-athletes representing the ECAC Hockey’s 12 men’s programs were named to the 2011-12 ECAC Hockey All-Academic team. One hundred twenty-seven of this year’s student-athletes were also named to the team last year, 69 have the distinction of receiving the honor the last three seasons, and 32 received the recognition over the last four years. Of the 12 institutions, Brown and Yale led the way with 24 honorees each, followed by Rensselaer with 22, then Quinnipiac with 21 and Harvard with 18.
TROY, N.Y. – The 2012-13 schedule for the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's hockey team has been finalized. The Engineers, who will play 36 games, open their 111th season on October 6 in their first of 17 contests at the Houston Field House on the RPI campus.

PROVIDENCE, RI – Brown head coach Brendan Whittet '94 has announced his third recruiting class as the Bears' head coach. This talented group of seven players (four forwards, two defensemen, and one goalie) is set to join the Bears this fall as part of the Class of 2016. They represent three different states and two different provinces. Illinois (two players) and Quebec (two players) lead the way, while British Columbia, Connecticut and Massachusetts are also represented in this year's class.
CALGARY, ALB – Kevin Roy (Lac Beauport, QUE), a member of the Bears' incoming class of 2016, has been named to Team Canada for the 2012 Canada-Russia Challenge, which will be held in August of 2012. Roy is one of 28 players selected to represent Canada in the event, which replaces Canada's National Junior Team summer development camp for this season.
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - USA Hockey today announced the 46 players invited to take part in its National Junior Evaluation Camp this August in Lake Placid, N.Y. Four of these players stem from ECAC Hockey schools as student-athletes Shayne Gostisbehere (Union), Colin Blackwell (Harvard), and Joakim Ryan and Cole Bardreau both from Cornell each earned an invitation.
