ALBANY, N.Y. - The ECAC Hockey men’s players of the week have been announced, and Morgan Barron (Cornell), Sam Malinski (Cornell), and Mitchell Gibson (Harvard) have all been honored for the week ending November 10, 2019.
Player of the Week
Barron (Jr. - Halifax, Nova Scotia) led ECAC Hockey in both scoring (six points), and goals (four) this weekend, helping Cornell improve to 4-0 (2-0) on the season. He registered a goal and an assist in Friday’s 4-1 win over Brown, before breaking out with a hat trick on Saturday against Yale, and adding another helper in the 6-2 win.
Rookie of the Week
Malinski (Fr. - Lakeville, Minn.) picks up his second consecutive Rookie of the Week honors after leading the league’s freshman in scoring once again, posting four points (1G, 3A) over the weekend. He scored the eventual game-winning goal against Brown on Friday, and added a pair of assists in Saturday’s win as well.
MAC Goaltending Goalie of the Week
In the first two starts of his collegiate career, Gibson (Fr. - Phoenixville, Pa.) was outstanding between the pipes for the Crimson, sending aside 63 of the 65 shots he faced. He made 31-saves in a shutout of Princeton on Friday, before stopping 32 of 34 against No. 15 Quinnipiac on Saturday, en route to a 2-0 weekend.
