Andonovski, Malinski, Nieto Earn League Honors

ALBANY, N.Y. - The ECAC Hockey men’s weekly awards have been announced, and Corey Andonovski (Princeton), Sam Malinski (Cornell), and Gavin Nieto (Brown) have all been honored for the week ending November 3, 2019.

Men’s Player of the Week

Andonovski (So. - Uxbridge, Ont.) nearly matched his rookie season goals total in just the first weekend of the season, recording five points (4G, 1A) in two games against No. 16 St. Cloud. His first-career hat trick on Saturday included a pair of power-play goals, and helped the Tigers to a 5-5 tie, capping off an undefeated weekend.

Men’s Rookie of the Week

Malinski (Fr. - Lakeville, Minn.) played a key role in Cornell’s weekend sweep of Michigan State, finishing the series with four points (1G, 3A). He dished out an assist on the game-winning goal on Friday, before scoring and adding two more assists in Saturday’s 6-2 win. He became the first Cornell defenseman to post four points over his first two collegiate games since Brendon Nash in 2006.

MAC Goaltending Goalie of the Week

Nieto (Sr. - Yorba Linda, Calif.) faced over 60 shots in the home-and-home series against Yale this weekend, allowing just four goals in the process. He finished the weekend with a league-high 57 saves, .934 save percentage, and 2.03 GAA.
