ALBANY, N.Y. - The ECAC Hockey men’s weekly awards have been announced, and Zach Risteau (St. Lawrence), Ryan Mahshie (RPI), and Frank Marotte (Clarkson) have all been honored.
Risteau (So. - Lakeville, Minn.) recorded two points in each game over the weekend to help St. Lawrence earn a split with Mercyhurst. His third-period goal on Saturday was the game-winner, as the Saints picked up their first win of the young season by a final score of 3-2. He finished the weekend tied for the league-lead with four points (2G, 2A).
Mahshie (Fr. - Stoney Creek, Ont.) was a huge part of RPI’s successful opening weekend, scoring his first two collegiate goals to earn Rookie of the Week honors. He buried his first goal in a 5-3 loss to No. 4 UMass on Friday before scoring the eventual game-winner on Saturday at UConn.
Marotte (Sr. - Longueuil, Quebec) was nothing short of spectacular in his first weekend for the Golden Knights. The senior transfer stopped 70 of the 72 shots he faced against Michigan (.972%), helping Clarkson go 1-0-1 in its first trip to Yost Arena.
