ALBANY, N.Y. - ECAC Hockey has announced its men’s players of the week for the week ending March 3, 2019, and players from Union, Dartmouth, and Princeton have been honored.
Ryan Walker (Union) picks up Player of the Week honors after leading the Dutchmen to their first weekend sweep since November. The senior found the back of the net twice and added an assist in Friday’s 4-3 win over Dartmouth. He followed it up with another goal, which was the eventual game-winner against Harvard on Saturday, securing the No. 7 seed for Union in the upcoming ECAC Hockey Tournament.
Drew O’Connor (Dartmouth) earns Rookie of the Week for the second time this season after also receiving the award in October. The freshman had a strong close to the season, recording four points on the weekend (3G, 1A). His output was not only best among ECAC Hockey first-year players this weekend, but also among the nation’s rookies.
Princeton’s Jay Forget has been named Goalie of the Week after picking up a pair of wins over Yale and Brown this weekend. The freshman recorded 30+ saves in both games, allowing just three goals on the weekend. He finished with a .954 save percentage, which included a save on a Yale penalty shot on Friday.
