Kuffner, Bongiovanni, Gornet Named to Weekly Honor Roll

ALBANY, N.Y. - ECAC Hockey has announced its weekly award winners for the week ending February 24, 2019, and players from Princeton, Harvard, and Quinnipiac have been honored.

Ryan Kuffner (Princeton) takes home Player of the Week honors after a four-point weekend (2G, 2A) in which he led the Tigers to three league points against Clarkson and St. Lawrence. The senior dished out an assist in Friday night’s 1-1 tie against Clarkson, and registered three points (2G, 1A) in a 5-3 win against the Saints on senior night. He finished the weekend with a +3 on-ice rating, while also notching a goal on the power play.

Wyatt Bongiovanni (Quinnipiac) earns rookie of the week honors for the third time this season after recording his first career hat trick in Friday’s win over St. Lawrence. The Birmingham, Mich. native also dished out an assist in the game, giving him four points on the weekend. His 14 goals this season lead the way for ECAC Hockey freshman, and rank second in the nation among rookies.

In the first two home starts of his career, Cameron Gornet (Harvard) was a force in net, stopping 63 of the 65 shots he faced to help the Crimson to a weekend sweep. His 35-save shutout against Yale on Friday was the first of his career, and earned him the Tim Taylor Cup for MVP of the Harvard-Yale game.
