ALBANY, N.Y. - ECAC Hockey has announced its men’s weekly awards for the week ending February 10, 2019, and players from Cornell and Brown have been honored.
Cornell’s Jeff Malott has earned player of the week honors after tying for the lead league in goal scoring this past weekend, and leading the Big Red to a pair of wins. In Friday’s top-10 matchup against Clarkson, the junior netted a pair of goals, one of which came on the power play. He followed that up with an assist in Saturday night’s win over St. Lawrence, helping Cornell extend its lead in the league standings.
Michael Regush (Cornell) earns rookie of the week for the second time this season after scoring a point in both games over the weekend. The Surrey, British Columbia native came up big on special teams, scoring a power play goal in each game to help the Big Red to another weekend sweep. He’s been on a scoring streak of late, scoring four goals in his last six games.
Luke Kania (Brown) picks up goalie of the week accolades after leading the red hot Bears to a pair of ECAC Hockey wins, including one over No. 4 Quinnipiac on Saturday. The sophomore allowed just three goals over the weekend, stopping 79 of the 82 shots that came his way. In the win over the Bobcats, he stopped 47 of the 48 shots he faced, allowing his team to come away with a 4-1 win.
