ALBANY, N.Y. - ECAC Hockey has announced its men’s weekly awards for the week ending February 3, 2019, and players from Quinnipiac and RPI have been honored.
Odeen Tufto (Quinnipiac) has been named Player of the Week for the second time this season after leading the nation in scoring this weekend with six points (2G, 4A). The sophomore had a goal and an assist in Friday night’s 4-2 win over No. 10 Clarkson. He followed that up with another goal and three assists in Saturday’s 7-2 victory at St. Lawrence, finishing the weekend with a +3 on-ice rating.
Quinnipiac’s Wyatt Bongiovanni led all league freshman in scoring this weekend, notching a pair of goals and an assist to earn Rookie of the Week honors. The Birmingham, Michigan native came up big on the power play, recording two man-up points to help lead the Bobcats to another undefeated weekend.
Owen Savory (RPI) had another outstanding week in net, leading the nation with 111 saves over the Engineers three games. The freshman allowed just two goals throughout the entirety of the week, highlighted by a 43-save shutout in Tuesday’s “Mayor’s Cup” game against Union. He turned in another 40-save performance against No. 13 Cornell on Saturday in a 1-1 tie, finishing the week with a .982 save percentage.
