ALBANY, N.Y. - In the final ECAC Hockey men’s weekly honor roll of 2018, players from Clarkson and Quinnipiac have stood out from the pack. Clarkson’s Nico Sturm (Player of the Week), and Jake Kielly (Goalie of the Week) were both honored, while Peter Diliberatore picks up Rookie of the Week honors for the Bobcats.
Sturm helped lead the Golden Knights to the Desert Classic Championship this past weekend, recording a team-high three points. He tallied an assist in Friday’s win over No. 13/15 Arizona State before scoring a pair of goals, including the game-winner, in Saturday’s championship game against No. 3/4 Minnesota Duluth.
Diliberatore scored his first career goal in Quinnipiac’s only game of the week, helping lead the Bobcats to a 6-0 win over Colgate. The rookie also dished out an assist in the contest, ending the game with a +5 on-ice rating. Diliberatore was extremely efficient with his offensive production, scoring on the only shot he took in the contest.
Kielly was named the MVP of the Desert Hockey Classic after allowing just one goal in two games against nationally ranked opponents. The junior was perfect in Friday night’s game, stopping all 15 of the shots he faced against ASU to lead the Golden Knights to a win. He followed it up with a 29-save performance on Saturday, allowing just one goal in the 3-1 win over Minnesota Duluth.
