Seven Players to Join Colgate for 2019-20 Season

HAMILTON – A seven-player freshman class is slated to join the Colgate men's hockey program for the upcoming 2019-20 season, as announced by the Colgate men's hockey coaching staff.
 
The five forwards and two defensemen join 21 returners to the program from the 2018-19 campaign where the Raiders recorded significant victories over then-No. 3 Quinnipiac (Jan. 4) and in-state rival Cornell (Jan. 26). Colgate graduated five players to the Class of 2019 and will have eight seniors leading the program for the upcoming season.
 
Jack Hoey
6-1 / 195 / Center
Post recently played with Choate Rosemary Hall in the 2017-18 season … posted 28 points in the 24 games of his senior season … recorded 85 total points through 101 prep games played in his career … a native of Fairfield, Connecticut … shoots right.
 
From the Colgate Coaching Staff: "Jack brings grit and determination to the ice. A strong and fast power forward, Jack takes pride in the small details of the game. He is always willing to finish checks, block shots, and first in on the forecheck. Jack is a player you want on your team as he is very hard to play against with his high compete level. Jack is currently recovering from an injury that ended his junior season.  A graduate of Choate Rosemary Hall, he amassed 85 points in 101 games."
 
Ethan Manderville
6-4 / 195 / Center
Played for the Ottawa Jr. Senators of the CCHL … posted 19 goals and 22 assists for 41 points in his 91 games with the Ottawa Jr. Senators … previously played 78 games with the Kanata Lasers of the CCHL, where he tallied 15 goals and 26 assists for 41 points … a native of Ottawa, Ontario … shoots right.
 
From the Colgate Coaching Staff: "Ethan is a strong power forward that uses his size extremely well to take advantage of his opposition. Ethan is an extremely smart player with excellent stick skills. The combination of his size and IQ is not often found, making him very hard to defend. Currently playing for the Ottawa Junior Senators of the CCHL, Ethan has amassed 34 goals and 48 assists in 169 games over the span of his junior career.  Recently Ethan helped his team win the CCHL Championship and is still playing in search of the RBC National Championship." 
 
Anthony Stark
5-9 / 175 / Defenseman 
Played for the Madison Capitols of the USHL … tallied six goals and seven assists for 13 points in 89 total games played with the Capitols … previously played 10 games with the Austin Bruins of the NAHL in the 2017-18 season, where he earned two assists … played high school hockey at Shattuck St. Mary's, where he recorded 78 points by 20 goals and 58 assists in his 147 game career … a native of New York, New York … shoots right.
 
From the Colgate Coaching Staff: "Anthony is a mobile, puck-moving defenseman that is essential in today's game. He has a tremendous ability to retrieve pucks and transition his team up ice. Anthony's great skating allows him to jump up in the play as an outlet without giving up the defensive side of the game. He defends with a smart stick and utilizes his high hockey IQ to force turnovers. After graduating from Shattuck St. Mary's, he has spent the past two seasons playing for the Madison Capitals in the USHL. In his 89 games, he contributed six goals and seven assists."
 
Arnaud Vachon
6-2 / 210 / Center
Played the last three seasons with the Brooks Bandits of the AJHL … totaled 73 goals and 64 assists for 137 points through 168 games played … served as an assistant captain in the 2017-18 season … won the 2016-17 AJHL Championship with the Brooks Bandits … played high school hockey at The Hill Academy, where he recorded 42  goals and 58 assists for 100 points in his senior season … a native of Ajax, Ontario … shoots left.
 
From the Colgate Coaching Staff: "Vachon will bring a strong and physical frame that possess a scoring touch. Playing for the Brooks Bandits of the AJHL, he has been a consistent scoring leader on one of the top teams in junior hockey; amassing 137 points with 73 goals in 168 games over the past three seasons. He is reliable in tight areas of the ice, willing/able to win puck battles using strength.  Vachon is excellent on the faceoff and will be looked upon to continue that role at Colgate. Vachon and Brooks recently won the AJHL Championship and are continuing their quest for the RBC National Championship."
 
Matthew Verboon
6-1 / 195 / Forward
Played with the Salmon Arm Silverbacks of the BCHL for the 2018-19 season … produced 56 points in 50 games played by 28 goals and 28 assists with the Silverbacks … is a two-time IIHF World Juniors participant with both the Switzerland U18 and U20 teams … most recently competed with Switzerland U20 in 10 games, recording one goal and one assist … played Elite hockey with Geneve-Servette … a native of Puplinge, Switzerland … shoots left.
 
From the Colgate Coaching Staff: "Matt is a high IQ player that plays a complete game in all three zones. His excellent stick skills allow him to create scoring chances for himself and his teammates. Matt enjoys getting to the front of the net and using his size to his advantage. In his first year of junior hockey for the Salmon Arm Silverbacks of the BCHL, he led the team with 56 points by 28 goals and 22 assists in 50 games.  Prior to Salmon Arm, Matt grew up playing in Switzerland. This year, he represented his country at the prestigious World Junior Hockey Championship."  
 
Liam Watson-Brawn
6-0 / 190 / Defenseman
Played the last three seasons with the Prince George Spruce Kings of the BCHL … tallied 14 goals and 38 assists for 62 points across his 177 games played … posted 17 points by two goals and 15 assists in the 34 games of his senior season at Burnaby Winter Club Prep … a native of Vancouver, British Columbia … shoots right.
 
From the Colgate Coaching Staff: "Liam's defensive reliability allows him to log high minutes from the back end. He is a physical player that is very difficult to play against. He plays a very consistent game, defending well with his stick and competing hard to get the puck back into his team's possession. Liam makes a great first pass needed to transition his team to offense. Liam currently plays for the Prince George Spruce Kings, where he has achieved 62 points in 177 junior games. His team recently won the BCHL Championship and continues on the road to a RBC National Championship."
 
Colton Young
6-0 / 170 / Forward
Played for the Canmore Eagles of the AJHL … marked 57 goals and 100 assists for 157 points in 176 games played with the Eagles … a standout season, Young recently tallied 65 points by 27 goals and 38 assists in the 2018-19 season's 57 games played by the Eagles… previously marked 39 points in 32 games played with the Calgary Royals Midget AAA program in the 2015-16 season … a native of Calgary, Alberta … shoots left.
 
From the Colgate Coaching Staff: "Colton is a relentless competitor on the ice. His speed is very hard for opponents to contain and he is always willing to go to the tough areas of the ice. Captaining the Canmore Eagles of the AJHL, he leads by example in all phases of the game. Colton is versatile to play both the wing and center. Always a threat to score, through 176 games he has scored 57 goals and assisted on 100. Playing alongside his brother Alex (Colgate Class of 2024), is something fun to watch."
