ALBANY, N.Y. - ECAC Hockey announced the 2018-19 Rookie of the Year Wednesday afternoon, and Casey Dornbach (Harvard University) has been honored with this year’s award.
Dornbach was one of the top scoring freshman in the nation this year, posting seven goals and 22 assists, which was good for fourth in the nation among first year skaters in points per-game. He was especially dynamic during league play, posting 21 points against ECAC Hockey opponents.
The Edina, Minn. native comes into this weekend with a +4 plus/minus rating, displaying his dominant play on both ends of the ice. He helped the Crimson finish the regular-season with a 17-9-3 record (13-7-2 ECAC Hockey), earning the No. 4 seed in the ECAC Hockey Championship.
Harvard will continue its season on Friday, when it takes on No. 3 seed Clarkson in Lake Placid with a chance to play in the ECAC Hockey Championship game on Saturday.
