ALBANY, N.Y. - ECAC Hockey has announced its men’s monthly awards for February, and players from Princeton, Quinnipiac, and Cornell have all been honored.
Princeton’s Ryan Kuffner earns Player of the Month honors after leading the league in both points (13), and goals (7) during the month of February. The senior recorded at least one point in all eight contests, including four multi-point outings, averaging 1.62 points per-game. In the last game of the month against St. Lawrence, Kuffner scored two goals and added an assist in the Tigers 5-3 win.
Wyatt Bongiovanni (Quinnipiac) becomes the second Bobcat player to earn Rookie of the Month honors this season after leading all league rookies with six goals and nine points in February. The Birmingham, Mich. native was especially efficient on special teams, scoring three power-play goals. He was the only ECAC Hockey player to record a hat trick in February when he scored three goals and added an assist against St. Lawrence on February 22.
Matthew Galajda (Cornell) was dominant in net during the month of February, leading the league with a 1.61 goals-against average to earn himself Goaltender of the month honors. The sophomore stopped 170 of 183 shots he faced (.929 save %), boasting a 4-2-2 record in his eight starts. He went 3-0 against nationally-ranked opponents, including a pair of shutouts against Union and Clarkson.
