ALBANY, N.Y. - The ECAC Hockey award winners for the month of December have been announced, and players from Princeton and Quinnipiac have been honored. Princeton’s Max Veronneau earns Player of the Month honors, while Quinnipiac’s Peter DiLiberatore and Andrew Shortridge take home Rookie and Goalie of the Month, respectively.
DiLiberatore averaged a point-per-game during December, scoring a goal and adding three assists in the Bobcats four games. He was key in both of Quinnipiac’s league games during the month, dishing out a pair of assists in a 6-3 win at Princeton on December 1 before scoring a goal and adding an assist in a 6-0 win over Colgate last weekend.
Shortridge is leading the nation in both save percentage (.970) and GAA (0.72), and is one of only two goalies remaining that boast an undefeated record (7-0-0). In his two December starts, the junior did not allow a goal, making 51 saves on his way to consecutive shutouts. His biggest game came on December 7 against then No. 1 ranked UMass when he stopped all 32 shots he faced, helping the Bobcats to a 4-0 win.
Veronneau paced the nation in scoring during December, recording 11 points in Princeton’s six games during the month. Three of those games were multi-point performances, including his best game on December 15 when he played a part in all four Tiger goals (2G, 2A), helping them earn a 4-4 tie against nationally-ranked Penn State.
