St. Lawrence's season with shutout loss at Dartmouth

HANOVER, NH -- The St. Lawrence men's hockey team's season came to an end on Sunday night, as the Saints were shut out by Dartmouth, 8-0, in the third game of their best-of-three ECAC Hockey first-round series in Hanover, New Hampshire.

It's the second consecutive year the Saints have fallen to the Big Green in the first round, as the 2017-18 series also went three games at Thompson Arena.

Prior to Sunday night, St. Lawrence had not been shutout since game two of the 2013 ECAC Hockey quarterfinals at Yale.

Dartmouth only led 1-0 after the first period on a flat-angle shot from Alex Jasiek hit the far post and went in behind Saints' starter Daniel Mannella.

Jasiek and Quin Foreman each had four-point nights for the Big Green, while Will Graber finished with a pair of goals.

The second period was when it all came undone for the Saints, as the Big Green scored 37 seconds into the middle frame and went on to add four more, including three on the power play to take a 6-0 lead into the third.

Dartmouth then added two more in the third period at 2:04 and 11:09, respectively, to push to the final 8-0 margin.

Mannella was pulled after Dartmouth's fourth goal and finished with 13 saves in 26:22 between the pipes. Emil Zetterquist came in in relief and also allowed four goals and made 16 stops in 33:33. Their counterpart, Adrian Clark, finished with 22 saves in the win.

Senior Michael Ederer, who played his final game in the Scarlet and Brown on Sunday night, led the Saints with three shots on goal.

With the loss, the Saints finish the 2018-19 season with a 6-29-2 overall record. Dartmouth improves to 13-15-4 and advances to face Harvard in a best-of-three quarterfinal series next weekend in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
