Dartmouth falls to No. 19 Harvard

BOSTON – No. 19 Harvard scored three goals in the third period to come away from Friday's ECAC Hockey and Ivy League contest with a 4-1 win against the visiting Dartmouth men's hockey team.

Senior defenseman Connor Yau scored the lone goal for the Big Green (8-11-2, 7-6-1 ECAC) at Bright-Landry Hockey Center. Lewis Zerter-Gossage netted a pair of tallies for the home team, including an empty-net goal in the final minute to seal the win for the Crimson (11-6-3, 8-5-2 ECAC).

Dartmouth had its chances, including a five-minute power play, but were unable to find a scoring solution beyond Yau's second of the season at 11:06 of the opening period.

With the win, Harvard earned a season split with its Hanover counterpart after Dartmouth won the season opener in overtime, 7-6, back on Oct. 27.

Zerter-Gossage scored the only goal of the second period for either side, sending the teams to the third tied, 1-1.

Michal Floodstrand and Jack Donato found the back of the net at 2:34 and 8:22, respectively, of the final stanza for the winner and insurance marker.

Adrian Clark finished with 19 saves on 22 shots faced. Harvard's Michael Lackey allowed one goal on 35 shots against, withstanding an early onslaught of action from the men in green and allowing the Crimson the opportunity to earn the two league points. The visitors had a 14-3 edge in shots on goal in the opening 20 minutes, but scored just once.

Dartmouth held the nation's best power play scoreless on three chances, while its own power play was unsuccessful on two bids.

The Big Green are back home next weekend, playing host to Rensselaer and Union at Thompson Arena. Both games are scheduled for 7 p.m. puck drops and will be carried live on ESPN+.
