POTSDAM, N.Y. – Dante Palecco's second-period power-play goal turned out to be the game-winner in Yale's 2-1 win over Clarkson in ECAC Hockey play.
The Bulldogs (5-2-2, 4-2-1 ECAC), who increased their unbeaten streak to four games, handed the Knights their first home loss of the season. Senior goalie Sam Tucker had plenty to do with the result, making saves on 17 of 18 shots.
Luke Stevens got the visitors on the board first by re-directing a Jack St. Ivany shot just 72 seconds into the game. That was one of 38 Yale shots on target. That lead stood until Clarkson (8-5, 2-2 ECAC) evened the score late in the first period on an advantage.
Palecco's tally came at 11:35 of the second and was assisted by Kevin O'Neil and Joe Snively. "Kevin [O'Neil] used his speed on the entry into their zone and took their guys out of position," said Palecco. "Nice pass on his part, and it was a big goal."
The Elis are home next weekend with RPI and No. 11 Union coming to Ingalls Rink for a pair of 7 p,m. games.
