McCann Scores Twice, Colgate Ties Brown at Home

HAMILTON – The Colgate men's hockey program opened ECAC Hockey play against Brown on Friday evening, where junior Bobby McMann marked a pair of goals. Despite the effort, the night ended with a 2-2 tie through overtime in Class of 1965 Arena.

COLGATE SCORING PLAYS
• Period 2 | 05:21 – Breaking a scoreless game, Adam Dauda fed the puck in to be tipped by Bobby McMann, lifting the Raiders to a 1-0 lead over the Bears early into the second period.
• Period 3 | 02:57 – After a Brown attempt at dumping the puck, junior Jared Cockrell retrieved it from the corner and quickly fed it to McMann to take advantage of the power play. After swerving down the length of the ice, the junior was able to be patient, and place it in an open net behind a deked goaltender. The goal tied the game at 2-2 after a pair of Brown goals, and ultimately forced the scoreless overtime session.

STATISTICAL STANDOUTS
• It marks Bobby McMann's fourth career multi-goal game, as well as seventh power play goal in his time with the Raiders.

COACH VAUGHAN'S TAKE
"Bobby had two really great individual efforts. We had some great opportunities tonight, but we need to play more together. I think when you struggle to score goals, like we have been the last couple of games, guys have a tendency to try too hard so we just need to do a better job at keeping it simple. Overall, it might end up being a big point in the standings at the end of the year, but I think Brown played really hard tonight."

"For tomorrow, our power play has to get better and we have to find ways to score on the power play. Yale is a team who plays fast, so we'll have to be prepared for that. They have a couple of great individuals, and we'll have to be aware when they're on the ice. We have to continue to refine our game, and it comes back to winning your one-on-one battles."
