Brown Falls to No. 3 Harvard

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Tyler Moy scored a pair of goals and added one assist to lead No. 3 Harvard past the Brown men's hockey team, 6-0, in Saturday night's ECAC contest at Meehan Auditorium.

Harvard (20-5-2, 14-4-2) captured its eighth-straight win, while Brown dropped to 4-21-2 overall and 3-16-1 in the conference. Seniors Andrew Doane(Holliston, Mass.), Tim Ernst (Pickering, Ontario), Davey Middleton (Novi, Mich.), Zack Pryzbek (Niagara on the Lake, Ontario), Aleksi Rossi (Kuopio, Finland) and Tyler Wood (Manchester, Mass.) were honored before the game.

Merrick Madsen made 11 saves for the Crimson in two periods, before Cameron Gornet closed out the third with 12 stops. Ernst had 12 saves for the Bears in the loss, while Gavin Nieto (Yorba Linda, Calif.) had 16 saves over the final two frames.

Harvard scored three goals in the opening period, starting with the first just 28 seconds into the contest, when Jacob Olson ripped a shot from the slot for the early lead.

Brown was able to kill off an early penalty, but Harvard maintained possession in front of the Brown net and Adam Fox backhanded a rebound seven seconds after the power play ended for the two-goal advantage. Alexander Kerfoot notched the final goal of the stanza with 29 seconds remaining for the three-goal lead heading into the first intermission.

Moy added to the scoring at 4:42 in the second period, as he teamed up with Luke Esposito for the 2-on-1 rush into the offensive end, and beat Nieto to make it 4-0. After consecutive Brown penalties, Moy added his second goal of the period at 15:23, scoring on the 5-on-3 for the five-goal advantage at the end of the second.

Phil Zielonka recorded the lone goal of the third period at 12:25 to round out the scoring.

Junior Max Willman (Barnstable, Mass.) paced the Bears with four shots.

Brown will visit Princeton (2/24) and Quinnipiac (2/25) next weekend to wrap up the regular season before the ECAC First Round.
